On the 8th February 2019, at the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education offices a round table meeting was called by the special Committee which was ratified by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Professor Paul Mavima after a meeting held in October 2018.
The meeting was Chaired by Mr Dhewa from the MOPSE and attended by Directors and Officers from different departments in the Ministry, The ZIMSEC Director Dr L Nembaware, Mr VT Mguni -Asst Dir Examinations Adminstration, Ms Z Muzenda-Asst Dir Finance and the PR Manager Mrs N Dhlamini.
Issues discussed were to do with the administration of Examinations, particularly the daily collection of question papers during examinations as a measure to help in curbing malpractice. This was introduced in June 2018 and fully implemented for the November examinations session. The teachers Unions felt that this was a drastic measure which placed a heavy burden on schools. Dr Nembaware explained that this measure was not being withdrawn however, measures were being considered for centres which are inaccessible easily, noting that they must be able to fulfill the structural security requirements for them to benefit.
Other issues raised were tabled and discussed for escalation to the Honorable Minister.
