20 January 2016

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council is pleased to announce the release of the November 2015 Advanced Level examination results. We would like to commend all centre heads for running this examination session with all integrity and due diligence, as it was conducted without any leakages.

Candidates who sat for this examination will be able to collect the results from their respective schools/ centres on Thursday 21 January 2016.

A total number of 41 653 candidates registered and sat for a range of subjects from 1 to 6 subjects per candidate. Compared to the November 2014 Examination, which had a total registration of 39 133 candidates, the candidature increased by 2 520, a percentage increase of 6, 4%.

For purposes of reporting and in keeping with the traditional reporting format, there are two distinct categories of candidates with different pass rates i.e. school candidates and private candidates. Private candidates are those who are not registered into a formal school education system but sit for the examinations. School candidates are defined as students who attend classes and/or are tutored by a teacher until the sitting of the examination.

The number of school candidates was 32 764 and for private candidates it was 8 889. 32 550

School candidates wrote 2 or more subjects and 28 510 (87, 6%) candidates passed two or more subjects with Grade E or better. 7 962 private candidates wrote 2 or more subjects and

5 069 (63, 7%) candidates passed two or more subjects with Grade E or better.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the examiners and all ZIMSEC staff who worked tirelessly throughout the marking process to the point where we now have analyses and results to produce to the nation.

ZIMSEC hereby takes this opportunity to wish all the candidates the best of luck in their future studies and endeavours.
